Staying Safe

Lets Stay Safe Together

Learn what we do to keep you and your furry family safe.

  • Required & Recommended Vaccines

We always make sure all dogs in our care are up-to-date on all their vaccines including: Rabies, Bordetella, DHPP. Any pet that is not current on vaccinations are turned away.

Rabies Vaccine(Required): Required for all pets over the age of 3 months old

Bordetella Vaccine(Required): For Airborne Canine Cough

    • Like any human vaccines, the bordetella vaccine does not prevent illness, it reduces the likelihood and severity of the illness. The vaccine makes it more likely that your dog will recover on his own if he gets sick without the need for veterinary intervention.
    •  Occasionally, dogs will develop a mild version of canine cough shortly after vaccination (two to seven days). This is less likely in dogs who have already built up immunity from either previous vaccination or exposure. We have a strict 3 day waiting period after this vaccine is given before pet can enter the facility.
    • It is important to distinguish between canine cough, similar to the common cold, and the canine flu, which can be much more severe but is less prevalent. The canine flu vaccination is a separate vaccine and you should ask your veterinarian if the flu has been found in your area to help determine whether your dog is at risk. It is advisable to vaccinate your dog against the flu if it has been detected in your area and your dog is exposed to other dogs.

DHPP Vaccine(Required): What’s Included in the 5-in-1 Vaccine for Dogs?

    • The 5-in-1 vaccine for dogs is typically referred to by its acronym (DHPP, DAPP, or DA2PP) to indicate the diseases it protects against.
    • The canine 5-in-1 vaccine includes protection against canine distemper virus (indicated by the letter D), two types of adenovirus, aka hepatitis and kennel cough (named A, A2, or H), parainfluenza (P), and parvovirus (P).
    • These diseases are all caused by viruses with no known cure, so vaccination is the primary way to keep dogs protected. They are also highly contagious, and dogs of all ages are at risk of becoming infected.
    • We recommend the Canine Influenza and Parainfluenza vaccines.  For airborne illness vaccinations.

    Canine influenza virus (CIV) (Recommended)

    • Canine influenza virus (CIV), commonly referred to as “dog flu,” is a highly contagious respiratory virus that affects dogs of all ages and breeds. Although dog flu has been discovered in most of the United States, fortunately it doesn’t commonly cause death in dogs and, for many, won’t even necessitate a trip to the veterinarian.

    Canine Parainfluenza (Recommended)

    • Canine Parainfluenza - Like CAV-2, canine parainfluenza is another virus responsible for canine cough. It is also transmitted in the air and can spread rapidly, especially in areas where large numbers of dogs are kept together.
    • Coughing, fever, and nasal discharge are the major symptoms associated with infection.
    • One important thing to remember is that canine parainfluenza is not related to canine influenza. The two viruses cause different diseases and require separate vaccines for protection.
  • Cleaning & Disinfecting

Pet waste is removed as soon as possible with a pet safe product throughout the day.

Each Enclosure, or room, is disinfected between each guest with the same specialized disinfectant listed above.

    Water & Food Bowls

    • Water Bowls and Food Bowls are disinfected between each use.
    • Water bowls in group play areas are changed regularly multiple times throughout the day.
    • Water bowls in rooms are changed twice per day, or as needed, and filled with fresh water.
  • Ventilation & Air Quality

Ventilation is very important for the defense in spread of airborne illnesses and overall quality of care.

8 main fan systems are utilized, running 24/7, that vent internal air out of the building and replaced with fresh air from outside. The outside replacement air coming in is passed through a filter that captures up to 98% of virus-size airborne particles passing through the filter, and up to 99% of airborne allergy and asthma triggers, including particulates associated with tobacco smoke and smog, dust, pollen, mold spores, bacteria, pet dander, and dust mites.

We change over our internal air 24/7 with the fans or our HVAC systems running non stop. The air is filtered from bacteria and more by trapping 98% of airborne particles, including: bacteria, smoke & smog, dust mites & particles, pollen, mold, lint, pet dander, and debris.

    • We change these filters every 10 days to provide maximum filtration.

We also utilize the same proprietary UV-reactive carbon cells used in hospitals to disinfect the air of airborne viruses, bacteria, mold and neutralize odors from volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the indoor air.

  • Wellness Checks

In an effort to safeguard the well-being of all pets in our care, we have implemented the following wellness protocol in hopes that it will assist in ensuring your pets stay with us is as happy and healthy as possible.

First and foremost, we ask that if your pet is showing any symptoms of being unwell, currently sick, or just not acting like themselves, that you please do not bring them into the resort. This is for their own well-being as well as all the other pets in the facility.

Upon arrival to the Resort and throughout your pets stay they are visually monitored for any signs of illness. Examples of symptoms they will be screened for are but not limited to; nose discharge, coughing, sneezing, diarrhea, vomiting, or any other visible symptoms that may arise.

    • If health issues are noticed upon arrival your pet will unfortunately, be unable to enter the facility and will need to be cleared by a veterinarian before being able to return to us.
    • If health issues present themselves during your pets visit with us, your pet will be isolated, and you will be notified immediately to pick up your pet and seek veterinary diagnosis.
    • Pets that show symptoms of possible illness will need to be cleared by a veterinarian prior to returning to Adventure Pet Resort.

If your pet becomes ill after a visit to the Resort, please contact us immediately. We keep detailed records of any pet health issues daily and will notify all parents that have pets who may have been in contact with your pet during their stay in an effort to minimize exposure to illness.
